The Highlander's Awakening by Emilia Ferguson

This is romantic and sweet, with some interesting drama. Brodgar is sensitive, strong and loyal. Ettie is shy, quiet and smart. The storyline is romantic and suspenseful and heartwarming. I loved the book, but I have issues with the writing. The speech between characters is often awkward and stiff, and overly formal at times and very informal at others. It's enough to make me stop and wonder at it, but it doesn't detract from the actual story.

This is an amusing, heartwarming and romantic story. Simon is an honorable, charming and vulnerable man. Diana is sweet, caring and vulnerable. Simon believes that he killed his first wife and therefore doesn't deserve to be happy. But he believes in romance, which is why he chooses to be the person to tell Diana that she's being jilted by his best friend. He wants to help her overcome the scandal and when she decides to run from her tyrant father, he takes her. They get to know each other, and like each other, on their journey. It's very entertaining just how they get to know each other, and romantic and sweet. I love the whole series, but Simon and Diana are special. If you haven't added these books to your TBR list, do so. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
