This reads like a fairy tale and the characters are very strange. At times it seems historical, other times it seems other dimensional. The whole thing with Merrick is just messed up, especially the way Lydia reacts at the end. Lydia is mature in most ways, but immature in some. She is subdued except when around Simon, then she comes to life. Simon is very proper but lax at the same time. It's a very interesting story that I enjoyed reading. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Library Thing. This is my honest opinion of it.
