Broken Dreams by Emma Evans

This is a sweet, heartwarming story of love, second chances and redemption. Mark was not really serious about Joy when they were in high school, so when graduation came and he said goodbye, and she was devastated, he got angry at her and said some awful things. He later realized just what he'd given up, and regretted it. Four years later they are both back in their hometown and Mark desperately wants to apologize for everything, but she won't talk to him. Joy ends up hiring him and they gradually start talking. Mark is devastated when he learns the effect his words had on Joy and he tries to convince her that he was very wrong, but she doesn't believe him. Mark won't give up though and he takes a chance that will cost him her, or will finally convince her that he has been telling her the truth.
